National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis

NICOP is National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis.

 

When is it Needed?

In the past, NICOP was needed to be eligible to apply for the Protector Stamp. However, NICOP is no longer needed for this.

 

Procedure for Issuance of New NICOP

Reach your local NADRA office early in the morning along with the documents mentioned below. Make sure that they process NICOP applications.

 

Documents Needed

  1. Original passport.
  2. Original National Identity Card.
  3. Parents’ original National Identity Cards.
  4. Copies of all the above.

You will also need your father or your mother to be with you when you visit NADRA office. In the case of parents not being alive, siblings can be there.

 

Collect Information

Go to the information desk and confirm the fee and the processing time for different applications.

This is what I was told by them:

Urgent Application

  • PKR 8,700
  • 25 days

Executive Application

  • PKR 10,500
  • 12 days

 

Token

Go to the relevant counter and take a token and wait for your turn.

 

ID Check and Payment

You’ll be called to a small cubicle where the following will happen:

  1. Your personal details will be confirmed.
  2. Your fingerprint scans will be taken.
  3. Your picture will be taken.
  4. You will pay the fee for your NICOP.

 

Waiting

You’ll again have to wait until your name is called again.

 

Documentation

Once your name is called, you’ll go to the relevant counter where the following will happen:

  1. You will submit your documents.
  2. You will be given a slip for your NICOP.
  3. You will be informed of your NICOP collection date.

  1. I Just wanted to ask, Is it mandatory to have an NICOP for every job you do in UK, or your CNIC will suffice?
