Anonymous PLAB 1 Experience (I)

(This post was originally written for my blog on 16th February 2017. It was added to my blog by taking permission from the writer, for which I thank them. The writer chose to remain anonymous).

I got 161 in my PLAB exam, I started studying in august according to a timetable that was posted by a doctor on PLAB group. I had a group to study with on WhatsApp which was greatly helpful as we had previous discussions.

According to the schedule, I studied Samson notes and after each chapter, there was relevant mock (but you can omit these mock and study system wise Qs from 1700 instead) then I answered 1700  around 100-200 per day, and mock from 2013 to 2015. If you had doubt about some answers I would search the PLAB group and I could find all the query questions with discussions from many doctors, I didn’t need to post any question

Samson notes are volatile, so I had to reread them in the revision, and I read some topics from OHCM and OHCS because you can’t retain all these info in your head, but answering question, searching nice guidelines and patientinfo.com could help this issue

For the ethics, I read the 60 scenarios on the GMC website, and some PLABBERs posted ethics questions on PLAB group. The questions in the exam were almost the same

The exam had many questions from mocks and 1700, they sometimes change the term of the questions or the answers, so you shouldn’t think a lot about straightforward Qs and answer them quickly and focus more on new questions.

All the best!
