The UK Foundation Programme Training in Malta

Malta Foundation Programme:

The Malta Foundation Programme was officially launched in July 2009. It is an Affiliated Programme to the United Kingdom Foundation Programme. This means that the Malta Foundation Programme is the same as the UK Foundation Programme.

Approved by the UKFPO:

The affiliation status was awarded to the Malta Foundation School on 23 June 2009 by the Director of the United Kingdom Foundation Programme Office, Professor Derek Gallen, and was presented to the Malta Foundation School by Dr Stuart Carney, Deputy Director UKFPO, at the Official Launch of the Malta Foundation Programme.

Malta Foundation School:

The Malta Foundation Programme is managed by the Malta Foundation School. This programme enables trainees who complete the Malta Foundation Programme successfully to compete on the same level as those who are successful in the UK Foundation Programme.

Selection Process:

A written Situational Judgement and Clinical Test (SJCT) will be part of the selection process together with an interview.

The result of the test along with marks obtained at interview and marks obtained for academic qualifications and educational achievements, together with Medical School deciles, will be used to rank applicants for eventual selection into the Foundation Programme.

Eligibility Criteria:

From what I understand, this programme is only for EU graduates.

Further details on Eligibility and help on applying may be found here.

Malta Foundation Prgoramme 2017:

Applications opened on 30 September 2016.

Training will commence on 24 July 2017.

Conclusion:

By applying for this programme, you can complete the UK’s Foundation Programme in Malta.

  1. Dear Naseer, Do you know if its very competitive after the foundation programme to remain in malta for Specialty training? (As an EU citizen)

    1. As far as I know, there is no UK approved Specialty training in Malta. And I don’t know about Malta’s own training programs. I’m sorry!
