Certificate of Good Standing
A Certificate of Good Standing (CGS) is issued to a doctor by their local medical body on demand and on payment of the prescribed fee, provided they have at least six months of financial good standing with the said body and have not been indicted on any professional misconduct.
When is a CGS Needed?
A CGS is needed while applying for GMC registration.
For How Long is a CGS Valid?
Regardless of how long is your CGS valid according to your local medical council, the GMC only accepts CGS issued within the last 3 months.
Certificate of Good Standing from the UAE
(The following information was originally written by Dr. Raheela Mirza on 17 June 2017 for my blog. I am thankful to her for writing this).
Getting your Certificate of Good Standing from UAE is very easy.
You only need the following five documents:
- A copy of your passport
- MOH Evaluation certificate
- MOH Medical License
- Recent work experience
- MOHAP attested Arabic letter stating your work and verifying your documents (which can be done by visiting Medical District of your Emirates. I was in Ras al-Khaimah, so it is in Nakheel area for me).
First of all, get Work Experience letter from your employer. I took currently working letter. Take copies of all the above-mentioned documents, except document number 5 and visit Medical District of your Emirates.
Private Medical License is the Counter you will visit and after showing all documents, they will hand over a letter in Arabic stating that you can apply for Certificate of Good Standing (it will mention all your details).
After that, have a scanned copy of all these papers and Login to your MOH account.
Fill up all details in Certificate of Good Standing portion. Upload all documents in that section which are asked systematically. Pay 513 AED at the end.
You’re done. Now, all you have to do is wait.
I got mine in a single day, though; they say that it would take two to three working days.
