Procedure for Applying for Provisional Licence

There are two ways of applying for the Provisional Driving Licence.

  1. Online.
  2. Via Post Office.

.

1. Online

Go to the official DVLA website and click on Start Now. You will be asked a few questions about yourself and asked to pay a fee of £34 by MasterCard, Visa, Electron, Maestro or Delta debit or credit card.

Once you submit the online form, the same form will be printed by the DVLA and sent to you via post-mail in a week or so. You will be asked to attach a passport-size picture to it and your original BRP and send it back to the DVLA via post-mail.

You will receive your provisional driving licence and your BRP in the mail in a week or so.

You can go to your local post office and ask for the Provisional Driving Licence application form. This will be the exact same form that can be found online. You will follow almost the same procedure as above.

a) Fill the form.
b) Attach a passport-size picture.
c) Attach your original BRP.
d) Attach a £43 cheque or Postal Order.
e) Send it to the DVLA via post-mail.

The only difference between this service and the online service is that you will have to attach a £43 cheque or Postal Order. The postal order can be easily made from the local post office.
